The conference theme is, “Am I my sister’s keeper?” A range of challenges affect our female students, including health risks, financial and education-related barriers, managing interpersonal relationships, and a political landscape that inserts majority beliefs into workplace equality and healthcare decisions. Utilizing a seven-dimensional model, the learning opportunities provided at the conference will focus on psychological, physical and spiritual development and will be conducted by experts in each of these topical areas. Throughout the conference, we have organized access to mentors in the metro-Atlanta community, specifically, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter, activities with local high school female students, and a service opportunity with a local HIV/AIDS organization to reinforce the theme of sisterhood across generations. We firmly embrace the premise that one’s health and wellness is the cornerstone for their success; and that one’s success or failure can impact that of the community at large.
